Kuntanawa Rapé Container
This lovely handcrafted bamboo rapé container was made by our friends from the Tete Pewã arts and medicine studio way up the Juruá river deep in the Amazon. The bottle is decorated with tribal design pyrography. It has a screw top and is finished off with a fine design made with resin. The volume changes a bit per bottle because of the natural hollow of each bamboo piece but can hold between half an ounce to one ounce of medicine.
There may be slight varieties from batch to batch since this rapé container is a hand crafted product.
Tete Pawã arts and medicine studio is located in the upper Juruá region of Marechal Thaumaturgo municipality, far up on the Amazon. The only way to get there is on a two day boat journey or with a four seater airplane. They have been our close partners since 2014, always delivering state of the art handicrafts and their excellent Kuntanawa Rapés.
Tete Pawã is the Harpy in the Pano indigenous language. It is the biggest bird of prey of the region and considered very sacred to the native peoples of the region. A truly majestic and royal bird. In Huni Kuin myth he is an enchanted being created by Yuxibu, the great spirit.
