Ashwagandha (Withania somnifera) is highly revered in Indian Ayurvedic medicine. It is called a Rasayana or tonic, and is said to be rejuvenating.
Ashwagandha is a small shrub with yellow flowers that’s native from India to North Africa; ours comes from Nepal. The roots are the part used for medicine. It has been used for nearly 5000 years to relieve stress, increase energy levels and improve concentration.
What is Ashwagandha used for?
Traditionally Ashwagandha has been prescribed as a tonic for the nervous system and as an adaptogen. In Ayurveda it is believed to rejuvenate the nervous system. Adaptogens are agents that help the body adapt to emotional and physical stressors. In India it has been used to treat conditions such as weakness, rheumatism, insomnia, nervous conditions, stress, hormone imbalance, and more. A paste made from the Ashwagandha root powder is applied topically to treat boils, ulcers, and other skin irritations and infections.
Ashwagandha is known to help people strengthen their immune system after illness, chemotherapy, or surgery. It is a highly effective, evidence-based remedy to help reduce stress levels and anxiety—by lowering cortisol levels and mimicking the inhibitory neurotransmitter GABA.
Recommended Dosage
Ashwagandha may be taken as a dietary supplement. The recommended dosage is 1 to 5 drops under the tongue or in water.

Extract from Withania somnifera in alcohol, 20%. No other technical additives or processing aids are used.
